About this FUDS

Residual explosive hazards may remain from prior site use as an impact area and safety zone for weapons training. USACE has implemented several land-use controls to manage residual hazards.

About Five-Year Reviews

Any response actions that result in any hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants remaining at the site above levels that allow for unlimited use and unrestricted exposure are subject to a Five‑Year Review.
This will be the first five-year review to assess:
·   Whether the land-use controls and other measures in place are functioning as intended
·   Anticipated land use remains the same,
·   Site conditions are protective of human health and the environment.
If the response is not protective, the Five-Year Review will recommend improvements. Federal regulations require this type of evaluation, and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) will review the process to ensure completeness and accuracy. Please direct any questions or concerns regarding this process to the USACE project manager.
